Zentech Signs Contract for Two Zentech Z-210 Mobile Offshore Units

Zentech Incorporated of Houston, Texas, USA signed contracts with CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Company Limited for the construction of (2) Z-210 Mobile Offshore Units. These contracts were finalized based on the Letter of Intent received by CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipyard on September 23, 2015.

The Z-210 is a self-propelled, self-elevating, DP-2 capable, ABS Class, high temperature (55 deg Celsius) rated 4-legged mobile offshore unit capable of operating in water depths of up to 280 feet.

The wide array of unique and innovative features of the Z-210 has already captured the attention of operators and one of these units has already been secured by an undisclosed operator in Asia! Discussions are ongoing with several interested operators form the Middle East and Asia for the second vessel.

In addition, this will further strengthen the relationship of Zentech with CSSC, where three (3) Zentech design R-550D Jack-up Drilling units, capable of drilling in up to 400 foot water depth, are already being built.”

National Drilling Company (NDC) CEO Mr. Abdalla Saeed Al Suwaidi has presented Zentech with a Certificate of Appreciation for the Engineering Design and Construction Support of the NDC Jack-Up Rig Diyina, Rig Integrity Assurance Program (RIAP) during the completion ceremony held at Dubai Dry Docks Shipyard on December 17, 2015.

NDC has adopted the life extension of its current rig fleet by doing extensive modification and repair so that it meets the requirement of present day drilling, environment and operational regulations. The upgrade is done as to enhance the performance, integrity and HSE standards of the rig. Zentech had carried out the project feasibility study (Phase 1), Basic Engineering & Design (Phase 11) and Technical Support during construction (Phase –III) for the RIAP program. This is the second rig in the line of 3 Hitachi rigs which are designed Zentech as part the upgrade program and followed by the NDC Yemilah drilling rig.

Zentech has carried out similar upgrade project for other NDC rigs like the Al Ittihad, the Junana, the Al Ghallan and the Al Yasat.

Zentech has recently joined hands with eleven other partners and DNV GL so as to work together on a Joint Industry Project (JIP). The JIP is based on a Recommended Practice (RP) issued last year due to maintenance and inspection challenges of a Jackup systems. All the partners have expressed a positive outlook and strongly believe that collaborations of this sort is what’s best to face the challenges of the current market.
